#32 Law of Success
Most Laws of Success are short and sweet, but so
very important to YOUR success! As the saying
goes, sometimes less is MORE. Pay attention.
The laws always work when YOU apply them.

Turn your critical self-talk to positive encouragement.

Most of us heard a lot about what we did wrong when
we were growing up, but not much about what we did
right.

My mother, without realizing it, would compliment me
on something I achieved for about 2 seconds, and would
then proceed to tear that compliment apart by listing all
that she felt I did *wrong* on the road to that
accomplishment.

I now have an inner (or mental) critical parent that has
taken over the job that my mom used to do, and she’s
every bit as good at it! Chances are you have an inner
critic for similar reasons.

If you look at the percentage of times you feel you were
criticized as opposed to the times you were praised, what
would your ratio look like? Keep in mind that this exercise
is a memory perception only, not an accurate snapshot.
But it will reflect your current belief system about how
many times you screw up versus how many times you
do well, accurate or not. What does your intuition say
is your current ratio?

If your screw up number is high, you can look at it
rationally and know that it’s not an accurate picture of
reality. However, the self-talk that is created because
of your failure belief does affect the way you live your
life and the results you get. I’m guessing you’re going
to want to change those numbers!

Here’s what to do IMMEDIATELY:

Whenever you catch yourself talking to yourself
negatively, STOP and rephrase the self-talk to a positive
nature. If you did make one or two mistakes during a
situation, instead of beating yourself up, look at all you
did that was great and rationally tell yourself the TRUE
and accurate ratio of *did right / did wrong*.

Certainly do acknowledge the mistake(s) and what you’ll
do about it next time a similar situation occurs… but then
spend the most time on congratulating yourself for all
the steps you took that were right on target.

NOTE: You may find that your negative self-talk comes
in the form of feelings, not actual inner words that you
can “hear” and recognize. When you feel down and don’t
know why, look to what your feelings are telling you if you
can’t actually “hear” the negative self-talk. If your feelings
had words, what would they say? When you decipher
them, follow the directions above.

If you follow this strategy doggedly every time you catch
yourself criticizing your performances, your life will
absolutely start to change for the better. Your self-esteem
inner peace, and confidence will grow right along with your
successes.

Most Laws of Success are short and sweet, but so
very important to YOUR success! As the saying

BE the person who has already achieved the goal.

Take a few moments right now to think about what
a person who has achieved the goal you desire is like.
How does that person think? Walk? Act? Dress?
Talk? Feel?

What kinds of places does that person visit? What
kinds of books does that person read? What does
that person do in his/her spare time?

Now, start doing that too! Your brain, your sub-
conscious mind, and even your body get the message
that your desire IS TRUE for you right now and will
find even more creative ways to actually bring it about
in your world.

Test drive a new car that this person would have.
Tour houses for sale that this person would own.
Shop where this person would shop. You don’t
have to buy anything right now, but test drive, tour,
and shop confidently and assuredly AS IF you ARE
already the person in your mind that has achieved the
goal.

Make the CHOICE to purchase at a later date,
but enjoy the reality of the shopping experience
and how it makes you feel – the textures, smells,
colors, people, things, etc.

Bring that confidence and world to your own again
and again, and soon…. it IS YOURS.

Visualize your goals as complete.

TWICE A DAY, imagine your goals as if you’d
already achieved them in the form of a mental
moving picture, complete with sound, color and
emotion.

Visualization (imagining an inner movie) quickly
shifts you from your logical and awake conscious
mind to an “alpha” brain wave state where direct
access to your subconscious mind is possible.

Your subconscious mind is 30,000 times more
powerful than your conscious mind and is where
all lasting change occurs!

Your brain and subconscious mind do NOT
know fact from fiction; they can’t tell whether
you’re experiencing the activity in physical
reality or in your mind. With consistent visual-
ization, your mind will go to work resolving
the conflict of what you’re experiencing now
versus what you’re imagining every day.

Common occurrences activated by visualization:

Ideas will come to you “out of the blue”, in
the shower, in your dreams, while you’re
driving or taking a walk.

You’ll notice new levels of motivation that
“effortlessly” start taking you toward your
goals. Your actions unexpectedly start
changing positively.

Common occurrences within the alpha state
(or visualization process) itself::

-Freedom from pain
-Physical healing
-Rapid assimilation of facts (faster and easier
learning)
-Creative imagery and problem solving
-Personal psychotherapeutic insights
-Heightened memory or recall
-Altered sense of time

In-depth studies have shown that people using
slower rhythms of the brain increase their ability
to achieve desired goals and maintain positive
attitudes and actions.
